It seems like every time you turn on the news or open a paper the Democrats and Republicans are waging war, not just abroad, but on our own soil in the form of partisan agendas, mudslinging and bill-blocking. Our nation is coming into a critical time: oil prices are soaring, our environment is suffering and our economy is in a slump. We cannot afford to have politicians who bow to Party agendas or who oppose progress for the sake of blocking the goals of their political opponents. We must insist that our elected officials be responsible to the people. We must lay down our Partisan Politics and do what is needed to make America safe and strong.

Doug Schaffer, a lifelong Democrat, has decided to run for office as an Independent in order to restore the focus to addressing the issues and enable this nation's representatives to finally accomplish something.

With the primary only five days away, we're ramping up all our efforts for the final push. As with any political campaign, there are costs, and ours has been no exception. We need your support. This race has allowed us to challenge many of the preconceived notions of the congressional campaign, and has allowed us to run on a platform that is truly responsive and representative of our future constituents needs and desires. We strive to continually be more involved with your concerns, and listen to you about how best to approach key issues. In order for us to continue to do that, in order for us to continue forward, we need your support.
